0-16 Whoda thunk it? Actually quite a few folks thunked it. Personally
I thought it was gonna be a good year. I think I predicted something like
10 or 12 wins. Boy was I wrong! So what happens now?
Today is Friday, Jan 2, 2009. Wildcard playoffs haven't even started yet. But
changes have already been made and some things were already known. Roy Williams
is gone (but he'll still have that asterisk next to his name for being part of
an 0-16 team!), in the trade to Dallas we got a first and third (among some
other trivial things). At this point we have 5 picks in the first three rounds
of the 2009 draft.
Marinelli is gone, Millen was fired much earlier in the season and now that
the season is done the old man made some choices. They certainly were not hard
choices. As usual he took the easy way out. He promoted Tom Lewand to
president and Martin Mayhew to general manager. He never even talked to anyone
else and since he insists on being part of the decision making we can pretty
much expect more of the same. Maybe even another 0-16 season! Cant wait to
see his draft picks.
No choices have been made for the coaching staff or asst general manager as
yet but there are a few folks scheduled to come in.
Update! On Jan 16th, Jim Schwartz was introduced as the new head coach.
